How female serial killers actually work, according to a former FBI profiler

Candice DeLong is a former FBI agent and profiler. She has interviewed dozens of female killers and at least one convicted female serial killer, Vickie Dawn Jackson.

DeLong joined the FBI in the 1980s after working as a psychiatric nurse, bringing her mental health background to her investigative work. During her 20-year career with the bureau, DeLong specialized in profiling violent offenders. She has studied female killers for over 20 years.

Among her notable career highlights, DeLong worked on high-profile cases involving serial offenders, including the tracking and arrest of Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber, in 1996. She played a role in major investigations such as the Tylenol poisoning copycat cases and assisted in high-stakes manhunts.

After retiring from the FBI, DeLong authored a memoir and became a well-known figure in true crime television and podcasting. She hosts the podcast “Killer Psyche,” which does deep dives on the psychology of killers and what drives them to kill.
