Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins slowed by hamstring injury and status in doubt vs. Bengals

Houston Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins was limited in practice Wednesday because of a hamstring injury, according to the team’s weekly injury report. 

That he practiced at all is reason for optimism that he could play on Sunday against Cincinnati at Reliant Stadium, but hamstring injuries are tricky and can keep players out for several weeks depending on their severity. 

Collins missed five weeks in 2024 with a hamstring injury he suffered in a game against the Bills. 

The true tell of Collins’ status Sunday will be whether he practices Thursday, which is the team’s most strenuous practice of the week. Players who don’t practice Thursday haven’t typically played in a Sunday game. 

Collins led the Texans last Sunday against the Bills with seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. He’s been their most consistent and dynamic offensive player when he hasn’t dealt with injuries. 

But Collins has missed time in every season since his rookie year. 

Other players on the team’s injury report include linebacker Jake Hummel, who is dealing with a groin injury. He did not practice at all; Edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney has a knee injury and missed practice, though DeMeco Ryans said he’ll return Thursday. 

Edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. and tight end Dalton Schultz had rest days.

For the Bengals, quarterback Joe Burrow was limited with a back injury.
