Houston Astros option Kai-Wei Teng to Triple-A, recall Miguel Ullola

The Houston Astros optioned reliever Kai-Wei Teng to Triple-A Sugar Land and recalled reliever Miguel Ullola prior to Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Teng entered Saturday’s game in the seventh inning with a two-run lead and walked two of three batters faced, one of whom scored, in what manager Joe Espada later deemed a “turning point” in a 4-3 10-inning loss. 

Teng, who had pitched in both the rotation and bullpen for Houston this season, has a 4.76 ERA in 76 ⅔ innings. He has allowed six runs across his past three major-league outings. 

Ullola, who debuted in June, rejoins the Astros for a fourth separate stint this season. He has made four outings with Houston, allowing three runs in six innings, and has a 4.21 ERA in 39 outings at Triple-A this season.
