Hooker Oghre signs contract extension with Bristol

Bristol Bears hooker Gabriel Oghre has signed a new contract with the Prem club.

Oghre has played 63 games for Bristol since his debut in 2023, scoring 26 tries.

The 28-year-old has also been capped once by England against the USA in July 2025.

“Gabs has developed into one of the leading hookers in the Prem,” director of rugby Pat Lam told the club website.

“He’s been outstanding for us over the past couple of seasons. His athleticism, power and skillset really suit the way we want to play and at 28, Gabs is coming into the prime years of his career.

“The most exciting thing is we believe his best is still to come.”

Bristol have not confirmed the length of Oghre’s new deal.

Oghre has returned to the squad in time for the start of the 2026-27 Prem campaign, having missed the end of last season after twisting his knee away at Newcastle in April and requiring surgery.

He previously played for Wasps, Leicester and had a spell in France with Bordeaux-Begles before moving to the West Country outfit.

“The way we want to play really suits me and gives me the freedom to express myself,” Oghre said.

“While the coaches have continued to challenge me to improve all areas of my game.”
