Hogwarts Legacy Official Remaster Released And Available Right Now
Hogwarts Legacy has proved to be one of the most popular games of the current generation, selling tens of millions of copies and accruing fans for what is about to become a burgeoning franchise within a franchise. The sequel is currently under development at Avalanche Studios and Portkey Games, with that expected to release next year, or in early 2028.
The next game in the series is also set to be a very different prospect from the first, with Warner Bros. and new parent company Skydance keen for it to track as closely to the upcoming HBO show as possible. There are also rumors swirling that they may pursue some form of live-service model, which could prove divisive with the existing community.
While we wait to find out exactly what they’re cooking up, the first game still has plenty going on, and it just received an update that has significant implications for the visuals and performance.
As first reported by Game Rant, Hogwarts Legacy is about to get a major visual upgrade with the launch of a DLSS 5 update on November 5. Though DLSS 5 is certainly controversial for what it does to the visuals of a game, but it’s also Nvidia’s main approach to lighting and textures moving forward, and it will be interesting to see if the game maintains its aesthetic identity with DLSS 5 active.
In sharing confirmation of the news via their website, Nvidia posted the following statement:
“Powered by a 2X faster AI model released last month for GeForce RTX 50 Series and RTX Spark systems, DLSS 5 is bringing lifelike lighting and materials to Hogwarts Legacy, War Thunder, and Where Winds Meet this November.
“On Thursday, November 5th, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy is updating to integrate DLSS 5 technology to enhance lighting and materials, and to use DLSS 5’s model controls to boost environmental uplift while preserving character identity.”

That last sentence is the particularly interesting part, as it shows that Nvidia are acutely aware of the complaints fans of other games have had about the effect the technology has on character models. If they can achieve a more natural look here, then it could make for a more steady path moving forward.
At the same time, the move gives player access to accelerated DLSS 5 multi-frame generation, improving perceived frame rates as you play, and opening up the potential for high frame rates on systems that would otherwise be hamstrung.
It’s important to be aware that Native DLSS 5 is currently only available on 50 series cards, with those of us running 40 and 30 series cards left out in the cold. If you are part of the latter group and still want to make use of the tech, you can make use of GeForce NOW cloud streaming to get the same effect.
All of that will be available to download entirely for free on November 5 for those who own Hogwarts Legacy, alonside a horizontal release for War Thunder and Where Winds Meet.
