‘He’s up there with the best centre-backs in the world’- Jeremy Jacquet on playing alongside Virgil Van Dijk

In an official interview with Liverpool, after his arrival was confirmed, Jeremy Jacquet (21) spoke about the prospect of playing alongside Virgil Van Dijk (34) at Anfield. The Frenchman’s arrival on Merseyside has been confirmed after the Premier League club reached an agreement with Stade Rennais worth €60m that would see him arrive when the summer transfer window officially opened. 

Jacquet has been touted as one of the best young centre-backs in Europe. This saw several clubs emerge as interested in his services, including Chelsea, but it was the Reds who eventually won the race for his signature during the January transfer window.

Speaking in his offical unveiling interview, the former Rennes defender was asked about the prospect of playing with the Liverpool captain, he said, “Of course, I’m really excited to line up alongside a great player like him. I think he’s up there with the best centre-backs in the world currently, so I can only learn from him.”
