Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has downplayed the possibility of having a son at this stage of his life.

Dangote hinted that a son might bring down his family’s name and might not do better than his daughters.

The President of Dangote Group has three biological daughters from two failed marriages and one adopted son.

Mariya, his eldest biological daughter, is actively engaged in the leadership role of his business.

Halima, his second biological daughter, serves as a senior executive and board member within the group.

Fatima, his third biological daughter, holds key executive positions in Dangote Group subsidiaries while his adopted son is Abdulrahman Fasasi.

The frontline African industrialist has been married twice and both marriages ended in divorce.

In 1977, Dangote married Zainab and they later divorced. The union was blessed with two daughters, Maria and Halima.

He later married Mariya Muhammad Rufai, daughter of a former Bauchi State Commissioner. The marriage ended in divorce in 2017 but they had one daughter, Fatima.

In an interview with Arise Television, Dangote said: “That is not my priority, let me say it bluntly because today as we speak, God controls everything.

“But for me, sometimes you can pray for God to give you a son but that son might be the one that would take down the name of the family.

“So sometimes when God doesn’t give you something, don’t push. I don’t think a son would have done better than these three ladies that I have.”
