‘He has literally no idea’: Donald Trump mocked for his NFL picks

United States President Donald Trump has long portrayed himself as a fan of the NFL, as he even became the first sitting president ever to attend a Super Bowl back in 2025. However, after the answers he gave to a pretty basic question about the upcoming NFL season, fans are skeptical about his ball knowledge.

During an interview at the 2026 Patriot Games at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio on Tuesday night, Trump was asked about the teams who will be in contention for the Super Bowl this NFL season. Based on his response, however, fans are questioning his football knowledge.

‘A lot of great teams’

During Tuesday night’s festivities, which were broadcast on ESPN, Trump was asked on ESPN+, Trump was asked about which teams he was keeping his eye on this year as possible Super Bowl contenders.

Trump listed off a few teams, including the New York Giants, who are projected to be a bottom-10 team in the league by most sportsbooks, before bizarrely saying that he was going to stop talking about the subject so that he didn’t get himself into trouble.

“Well, maybe I’ll pick a few. I think New England looks good. I think the Giants – I like their quarterback a lot. They say the LA Rams are looking very strong,” Trump said during the event. “But I’d better not get into this too much. I’m going to get myself into trouble if I do.”

“I think you have a lot of good teams – a lot of great teams. We’ll see how it turns out. I’ll be watching,” Trump said.

‘Trump has no clue’

Needless to say, Trump’s answer did not inspire a lot of confidence that he knew what he was talking about.

“Mentioning the Giants in the same sentence as the Rams should be an impeachable offense tbh,” one fan wrote in a post on X.

“Trump doesn’t know ball,” someone else wrote.

“He’s just guessing,” another fan added.

“Trump has no clue,” someone else said.

“He has literally no idea and tried to play it off like he was going to get himself in trouble for giving an honest answer lol,” another fan wrote.

“He doesn’t know [expletive] about football,” someone else added.

The good news is that it’s not the president’s job to know about football or make correct Super Bowl projections before the start of the season.
