Harrisburg beats O’Gorman by one in 48th Dakota Bowl

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A missed extra point was the difference between O’Gorman and Harrisburg in the 48th annual Bob Burns Dakota Bowl, and this year the visiting Tigers will head back home with the win, 21-20.

O’Gorman scored on their first drive of the ballgame, a long sustained push capped off with a short rushing touchdown, but from there the offense went stagnant the rest of the first half.

Harrisburg had a nice, long drive of their own capped off with a QB sneak from Jonah Young to tie things up, a pick six for Bryson Esser gave the Tigers a lead heading into the locker room as well.

Out of the break, O’Gorman’s offense re-found its rhythm and capped a six minute drive with a Brady Majeres rushing touchdown to tie the game at 14.

Harrisburg would march down and score to retake a touchdown lead, but the Knights responded this time, hitting paydirt for the six, unfortunately for them, a strong Harrisburg push on the line caused enough pressure to force a miss and the Tigers led by one, 21-20.

The Knights had a chance in the final minute as they got the ball with 53 seconds left, but an untimely fumble, recovered by Harrisburg marked the end of the game.

O’Gorman moves to 1-2 after the loss while Harrisburg is 2-1.
