Greece vs Germany preview: Team news and predicted lineups
After beating Serbia 2-0 on Thursday to claim their first win under Jürgen Klopp, Germany now turn their attention to Sunday’s match against Greece in Thessaloniki.
Germany only met Greece last week, suffering a disappointing 0-1 defeat in Augsburg, and will be looking to avenge that loss after Klopp rotated his squad ahead of the Serbia game.
“After this victory, we’re more confident that we can win the next game as well,” said Klopp after Thursday’s win.
However, beating Greece will not be an easy task, with Ivan Jovanovic’s side topping Group A2 with seven points after going unbeaten in their first three games.
Most recently, Greece were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands after taking a two-goal lead into half-time.
Team news and predicted lineups:
Klopp is expected to largely stick with the team that beat Serbia convincingly, although there could be a few changes – for example up front, where Nick Woltemade disappointed against Serbia and faces competition from Jonathan Burkardt.
Nico Schlotterbeck was forced to pull out of the squad ahead of the Serbia game, but there have since been no further injury setbacks for Klopp’s team.
Greece, meanwhile, will have to manage without one of their biggest stars, as Christos Tzolis is unavailable after being forced off against the Netherlands with a muscular issue.
