Grealish seals Everton return as Hull make late flurry of signings

Jack Grealish has joined Everton on loan from Manchester City for a second stint at the Merseyside club.

Everton signed Grealish on loan last term, with the playmaker proving an instant hit at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Grealish provided six assists and scored two goals across 20 Premier League appearances, but he sustained a season-ending foot injury in January.

However, despite his absence, Grealish finished the season as Everton’s leading chance creator from open play (36).

Everton remained keen to bring the 30-year-old back to the club, and another loan move was confirmed on Tuesday.

Grealish’s return is a separate deal to Iliman Ndiaye moving in the opposite direction for a fee of £60m plus add-ons.

“It feels so good. I’m so happy. I think I’m at my best at everything in life, not just football, when I feel loved. That’s what the manager has given me, what my teammates have given me and especially what the fans have given me,” Grealish told Everton’s media channels.

“Every time I see an Everton fan, it’s just pure love and the way they’ve welcomed me since that first game against Leeds, I’ll never forget that. It means a lot to me and hopefully I’ve made a few Everton fans happy.

“I had a perfect time here for the first six months, then I stayed around after I got injured. I’ve been watching all the Everton games in pre-season and since the season started. Now I feel ready to go. I’m ready to start training tomorrow and prepare for the games.”

Everton have had a dramatic deadline day. They are also hoping to complete deals for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Folarin Balogun.

However, there was a last-gasp twist as Balogun reportedly failed his medical, with Everton switching focus to a loan move for Joshua Zirkzee, which was rebuffed by Manchester United.

The move for Balogun now appears to be back on.

Meanwhile, Everton have also confirmed a raft of departures alongside Ndiaye.

Nathan Patterson has joined Torino, Beto has headed to Fiorentina and Tim Iroegbunam has left for Hull City.

Hull have paid a reported £15m for Iroegbunam, with the deal potentially rising to £22m, while the Tigers have also signed Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Girona and Robinio Vaz from Roma. Cody Drameh has joined Genoa.

Elsewhere, Leeds United have confirmed the loan addition of full-back Melvin Bard from Nice.
