Granollers, Zeballos end UK hopes again in Paris men's doubles final

Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos retained their French Open men’s doubles title on Saturday as the wait for British winners at Roland Garros goes on.

For the second year in a row, there was British representation. But Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara lost just like Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski were beaten by the same pair 12 months ago.

But Patten and Finn Heliovaara fell to a 6-4, 6-2 defeat, meaning no British man has lifted the trophy since 1933.

Patten and Heliovaara had not dropped a set en route to the final and have the considerable consolation of knowing they will be joint world number one on Monday, dethroning Skupski.

They were seeking a fifth title of the season and a third grand slam after winning Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open last year but they were well beaten by Spaniard Granollers and Argentinian Zeballos.
