Gov Oyebanji dissolves boards, terminates political appointments

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatal in the state and terminated the appointments of political appointees.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Sunday.

Oyebode said the affected political appointees included Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Technical Assistants.

He said the decision was part of the gradual winding down of the governor’s first term ahead of his second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, 2026.

However, the dissolution does not affect statutory bodies, including the State Independent Electoral Commission, Civil Service Commission, House of Assembly Service Commission and Judicial Service Commission.

Oyebode said the chairmen of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Local Government Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission would remain in office, although their respective boards had been dissolved.

The Directors-General and Technical Advisers to the governor are also exempted from the termination of appointments.
