The teenage girl, identified as Ummi Saad and said to be mentally unstable, incurred the wrath of the neighbourhood in Shuwa, a village in the Duhu District of Madagali Local Government Area, when she allegedly threw 3-year-old Abdulrazak Aminu into a water well.

The Nigeria Police Force indicated in an update made public Monday that it saved the suspect from lynching by a mob that rose in anger over the fate of the toddler who died as a result of the teenager’s act.

The Police, stating that the incident happened at the weekend, told of how operatives removed the child from the well and took him to the Cottage Hospital in the Madagali Council headquarters, Gulak, where he was confirmed dead.

“The incident incited residents who attempted to lynch and set the suspect ablaze, but the police team swiftly rescued her from the mob,” the police stated, assuring that normalcy has been restored in the affected village.

The Adamawa incident came to light as part of a nationwide incident compiled by Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP Ani Iniedu, as passed to newsmen in Adamawa by the state Police image maker, Suleiman Nguroje.
