Cam Skattebo is a physical, non-stop, slightly crazy runner on the football field, where he’s setting up for his second season as a New York Giants running back.

The problem is that some of those behaviors carry over into his off-field endeavors, too, which is particularly troublesome as he works to return from a nasty ankle injury.

Skattebo, for example, recently was captured on stage at Fanatics Fest doing a backflip.

Not ideal in any circumstance, particularly since Skattebo didn’t even stick the landing. Talk about a silly way to potentially get hurt again.

In a follow-up appearance, though, Skattebo assured everyone that he won’t get hurt before the season:

“I will not hurt myself before the season.”

To be a bit cynical: Says who?

It wouldn’t have taken much for his backflip mishap this weekend to turn worse than just an embarrassing video.

A post has gone around on social media about how when John Harbaugh was the Ravens coach, he didn’t even like Joe Flacco going on a skateboard. Harbaugh is now in charge of the Giants, and these can’t be his favorite decisions.

Maybe it all turns out just fine. But these certainly seems like risks not worth takin for Skattebo, no matter his confidence in his own health.
