It will be the only US airline serving the Austrian capital.

Both routes will use the Airbus A321XLR, the newest aircraft type that has helped unlock new destinations.

It’s a single-aisle jet with an expanded range, opening up long-haul destinations that wouldn’t fill enough seats on a wide-body aircraft, but still includes lie-flat beds in business class.

The routes to Amsterdam and Nice, also starting March 28 and May 6, respectively, use the XLR, too.

Flights to Reykjavik are returning for the first time since 2019, set to launch on May 27.

American cited the rise of “coolcations” — in which travelers seek colder destinations to escape hot summer temperatures — for bringing back this The airline is also reintroducing a fourth daily flight from New York JFK to London Heathrow.

Since American and British Airways are both part of the Oneworld alliance, it’s easy to book connecting flights to other European cities.

Tickets for the new routes will be available starting Monday.

American’s route-reveal comes two days after United Airlines announced 10 new international routes.

Nine of those are to Europe, and it’s also making use of the Airbus A321XLR to open up new cities like Luxembourg.
