Get it done, Julian Ward: Liverpool have green light for sensational deal
Liverpool have a green light to land a fantastic talent. Julian Ward can get things over the line from here.
Liverpool are currently building their shortlist for what’s a massively important 2027. The Reds need to balance out a very imbalanced squad – and that will take quite a lot of work.
Potentially, it will take several transfers and not cheap ones, either. But things also need to match the timeline that Liverpool are quite clearly building right now. We’ve seen a lot of young players arrive with a view to the next decade, rather than here-and-now signings.
That means aiming to snap up elite young players above all. Liverpool want all them, it seems, and one absolutely has the green light.
Gilberto Mora is available
Liverpool have been linked with Mexico’s biggest talent for months now. Gilberto Mora was the youngest player at the World Cup and looks destined for the very top.
He’s a rare case of an elite young talent who isn’t dependant on pace and is already, at 17, capable of holding his own against senior players. Really, Mora looks like an absolute sure-thing and the race to sign him will be intense.
El Porvenir reports that the teenager is fully available, too. They claim a release clause in his contract of $28m – potentially a complete steal for major clubs as they look to secure a player as good as Mora.
But that release clause also means the door is open to more clubs than typically available. That’s a ‘low’ figure for someone as good as Mora, given players far less proven than this – and older – go for above £30m with some regularity these days.
Liverpool, then, have a fantastic opportunity here. Get in for Mora quickly, before other clubs are ready to commit, and they could snap up a superstar.
