Georgia football quarterback Gunner Stocktonexperienced an injury scare during the team’s 27-24 loss to Auburn. It initially raised concerns about a possible concussion. However, head coach Kirby Smart has now confirmed that Stockton has not displayed any concussion symptoms following the hit.

After the game, Smart said that Stockton had not exhibited any symptoms during their conversation. However, the coach also acknowledged that the quarterback had sustained a stinger in his shoulder,

“He has not had any concussion symptoms,” Smart said. “So I can only go off what medical people tell me. I looked him in the eye and talked to him; there was no issue with any of that. And he did have a stinger in his shoulder, and that can affect you.”

Stockton’s injury scare occurred on Georgia’s opening offensive play against Auburn. The quarterback attempted to move the ball forward but landed headfirst after taking a hit.

Following the incident, Stockton briefly left the field as Georgia’s medical staff assessed him for a potential concussion. Backup quarterback Ryan Puglisi stepped in for three plays while the medical team evaluated Stockton. The starting quarterback was subsequently cleared to return to the game.

Despite the injury scare, Stockton finished the game with 272 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 22 of his 34 pass attempts. However, his performance also included two interceptions, which proved costly for the Bulldogs as they suffered a narrow loss against Auburn.

The two interceptions were particularly unusual for Stockton, who had thrown just two interceptions throughout Georgia’s first six games of the season.

Georgia’s upcoming bye week provides Stockton and the rest of the team with an opportunity to recover and prepare for their next challenge. The Bulldogs are scheduled to face the Florida Gators in their next game.
