Georgia Bulldogs rated as college football's most talented roster

The Georgia Bulldogs definitely have the talent to compete for a national championship and 247Sports agrees. They’re listed Georgia as the No. 1 team in terms of talent composite in the nation. Georgia has 105 total commits, including 57 that are four-stars and 12 that are five-stars in their database.

This is the second straight season Georgia has been the No. 1 team in talent composition. They were ranked No. 1 in 2025, and they almost proved 247Sports right by winning the SEC. Unfortunately, they lost to the Ole Miss Rebels, who were ranked No. 21 last season, in the Sugar Bowl. The Rebels are now at No. 15.

The Bulldogs added to their No. 1 ranked roster the No. 9 ranked recruiting class in the nation, with several freshman, such as tight end Kaiden Prothro, cornerback Tyriq Green, and interior offensive lineman Zykie Helton expected to take a ton of snaps this season. Georgia’s roster building has relied primarily on traditional recruiting as opposed to the transfer portal.

The defending national champion Indiana Hoosiers are nowhere to be found in the top 10, however. In fact, they’re all the way at No. 40 this season. They were ranked No. 72 last season, which goes to show what the power of smart recruiting and great coaching can do. Indiana had a lot of continuity and veteran leadership on that roster, and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza was a transfer from the California Golden Bears.

Rounding out the top 10, there are four other SEC teams (Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU). Four other teams come from the Big Ten (Oregon, Ohio State, USC, Michigan), and Notre Dame, coming in at No. 6, is an independent. Shockingly, there are no ACC or Big 12 teams in the top 10, not even the national championship runner-up Miami Hurricanes or Big 12 champion Texas Tech Red Raiders.
