Gavi explains why he’s not expecting Barcelona to sign Mikel Oyarzabal this summer

Barcelona midfielder Gavi is not expecting his club to sign Mikel Oyarzabal this summer from Real Sociedad as he expects the striker to remain with the Basque side.

There’s been talk that Oyarzabal could be on Barcelona’s radar this summer if Julian Alvarez can’t be tempted to Camp Nou, but Gavi doesn’t see such a transfer happening.

“I know Oyarzabal wants to be a Real Sociedad legend and I think he will stay there forever,” he told Catalunya Radio.

Oyarzabal has also made it clear he’s happy at La Real when asked about his future at the World Cup.

“In football you never know what can happen, just like in life. But I’ve always said that San Sebastián is my home, I feel as if I’ve lived there all my life and I couldn’t ask for more,” he told Carrusel Deportivo.

Alvarez remains Barcelona’s top target and a new bid is expected to be made shortly. Joan Laporta has said the club have already made one offer and the rumor mill thinks a new bid of around €130m is being planned.
