Full trade details for Steelers, Cowboys in Joey Porter Jr trade
The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded cornerback Joey Porter Jr to the Dallas Cowboys, ending a months-long saga that featured Porter missing the Steelers’ first three games after not being given a contract extension this offseason.
The full details on the trade are as follows, per Jonathan Jones of The Athletic:
- Steelers receive: 2027 6th-round pick, 2028 second-round pick
- Cowboys receive: CB Joey Porter Jr
Yes, the Steelers did not receive a high-end pick in next year’s draft. Rather, they will get a second-rounder in the 2028 draft. While that will be looked at as less than ideal to many, and rightfully so, it is still a pick that can be used as ammunition to trade up for a quarterback should that be the route they opt to go. Regardless, it’s hard to not be disappointed with how this entire series of events ended – with Porter being dealt and not even getting a high-quality pick in the 2027 draft to show for it.
