Per The Athletic’s Keith Law, pitchers Wes Mendes and Trey Beard are among the top 100 prospects, with Mendes at No. 70 and Beard at No. 99, respectively.

Mendes’ ERA of 2.90 contributed to a 9-3 record on the mound, and he also had the lowest WHIP on FSU’s entire team with 1.02. In 120 innings, Mendes struck out 173 batters, walking 31 and holding opponents to a .218 batting average. Mendes was also named the ACC Pitcher of the Year and to numerous All-American teams.

Beard was also good as FSU’s No. 2 starter after transferring in from FAU. In 68 innings pitched, he amassed a 4.50 ERA and a 6-1 record on the mound. He was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week during the week of March 16 as well.

Should either be drafted in the second round, they would join a club of over 300 former Seminoles to have their name called. FSU had 11 total players drafted last year. The 2026 MLB Draft begins on July 11, and fans can catch it on NBC and the MLB Network.
