FSU named an early favorite for 2028 QB after 'great' first visit

· · 2 min read

The Florida State Seminoles held a camp on their campus on Monday, and 2028 three-star quarterback Chase Curren was one of the prospects who made an appearance. It was his first trip to Tallahassee since being offered by the Seminoles in October of 2024.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder took time to speak about his visit after showing off his skills on the field. FSU did its part in terms of dazzling the signal-caller from Encino, California.

“It was great,” Curren told Noles247. “I liked getting to meet the coaches and see the campus for the first time and everything. It was overall just a great experience.”

During his trip, Curren got to spend a lot of time with quarterbacks coach Austin Tucker and head coach Mike Norvell. He was told that he’s a high priority within the program, and they certainly want him back for another visit soon.

Curren has his fair share of suitors when it comes to scholarship offers, as he has around 20 in total. They range from the West Coast to the Midwest, and of course, the Southeast. However, Curren does have several schools that are standing out to him, and he mentioned Florida State.

“I’m still completely open, but I like Florida State, I like Cal, Arizona, West Virginia — those are some of my favorites early on,” said Curren.

He was a highly productive player as a sophomore at Crespi High School. Curren completed 66.8% of his passes for 2,148 yards and 30 touchdowns to only seven interceptions. He added 247 yards and seven scores on the ground as well.

Curren is the No. 435 recruit and the nation’s No. 35 quarterback per the 247Sports composite rankings. In the state of California, he’s the No. 36 prospect.
