FSU baseball lands Pitt transfer AJ Nessler
The FSU baseball team has made a late addition to its 2026 transfer class. Former Pitt Panther outfielder AJ Nessler committed to the Seminoles on Monday, announcing the news on Instagram.
Nessler was originally out of eligibility after the 2026 season, but was recently given a fifth year of eligibility by a court in California, according to Brett Nevitt of Noles247. The NCAA is fighting back against these decisions across the country, and his eligibility moving forward could change.
He is from Tampa, Florida, and attended Jesuit High School. He spent his freshman season with the Panthers in 2023 before transferring to the UCF Knights for his sophomore season. He spent just one season with them before transferring back to Pitt, spending the past two years with them and starting 110 games over the stretch.
The 5-foot-10 lefty has played in 173 games during his career and made 156 starts. Nessler hit .304 last year with nine home runs, nine doubles, five triples, and 42 RBI. He posted a .490 slugging percentage and a .399 on-base percentage, working 36 walks and striking out 37 times in 247 at-bats.
Nessler is a career .308 hitter with 17 home runs, 25 doubles, and 10 triples. He has 126 RBI and 23 stolen bases, 13 of which came last season.
