Freshman EDGE to miss Nebraska matchup for Washington football
When the Washington Huskies head to Lincoln on Saturday for a matchup with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, they’ll be without freshman edge rusher Ramzak Fruean.
In the second quarter of Washington’s 38-26 win at Purdue, Fruean suffered a knee injury that coach Jedd Fisch initially downplayed, but in the first availability report of the week, the former four-star recruit out of nearby Bethel High School was listed as out.
With center Landen Hatchett set to miss the remainder of the season with a head/neck/spine injury, the Huskies may also be without several other depth pieces along the offensive line, as Justin Hylkema and Jake Flores are also listed as doubtful for the Halloween night matchup in Lincoln.
As he was before the Purdue game, QB Demond Williams Jr. also listed as questionable for Nebraska. EDGE Ramzak Fruean has been ruled out. After missing the Purdue game with the flu, freshman running back Ansu Sanoe is also listed as doubtful with what Fisch called a foot strain during his Monday press conference. However, the first report of the week also contained some positive news for the Huskies.
Running back Jayden Limar is listed as questionable for the first time since suffering an elbow injury in Washington’s season-opening win against Washington State, as is linebacker Xe’ree Alexander, who sustained a high-ankle sprain in the team’s 41-24 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes in early October.
As Fisch continues to work through his decision of who will start at quarterback, Demond Williams Jr. is listed as questionable with a fractured rib.
