Four flee after allegedly killing tea seller in Adamawa

Four persons are said to be on the run after allegedly taking part in the killing of a tea seller in Yola, Adamawa State.

The suspects reportedly fled before operatives of the state Police Command waded into the matter and commenced an investigation into the violent death of the tea seller, Muhammed Auwal Idris, at Banga, in the Nassarawo Borehole area of Jimeta, Yola.

The command revealed this in a press statement released Tuesday night.

“On 28th September, 2026, one Aliyu Idris, elder brother of the deceased, reported at Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters that his younger brother was attacked by four persons, namely Isa, Japhet, Omo and Henry.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene where the victim was found lying unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but was later confirmed dead,” the statement said.

Signed by the command spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, the statement revealed that the corpse had been deposited for autopsy, while the suspects were currently at large.

It added that the command had intensified efforts to track and arrest the suspects.

“The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, condemns in strong terms the heinous act and has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation to take over the case and ensure diligent investigation and prosecution,” Nguroje stated.
