Former Steelers HC loves the pairing of Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers

Last season, former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin brought in quarterback Aaron Rodgers in hopes of getting the Steelers our of their playoff slump. It didn’t work out, prompting Tomlin to step down as head coach. Tomlin is now part of the pregame analysis team for Thursday Night Football on NBC and Peacock and he had his first day of work this week at the Hall of Fame Game.

Tomlin was asked about new Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin who has a long history with Rodgers from their time with the Green Bay Packers. For Tomlin, it’s a perfect match and noted that the success they have had together will help them in Pittsburgh.

“There’s no substitute for shared success,” Tomlin said during the NBC pregame.

Tomlin had a similar situation with Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh so he’s uniquely qualified to comment on this. McCarthy hopes to come and get the Steelers that elusive playoff win that avoided Tomlin since 2016.
