Former Penn State TE Brenton Strange inks contract extension with Jags

· · 2 min read

Penn State may be known for producing linebackers built for the next level, but the tight end pipeline of the past decade continues to shine in the NF L. Going into the 2026 season, one former Nittany Lion standout will have a new contract under his belt. That would be Brenton Strange, who has agreed on a contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Strange signed a three-year extension with the Jaguars valued at $48 million. As noted by Pelissero, that includes a $25 million in guaranteed money.

By signing his contract extension, Strange will avoid dealing with unrestricted free agency at the end of the 2026 NFL season. Strange was entering the final year of his rookie contract with Jacksonville.

Strange was a second-round draft pick of the Jaguars in the 2023 NFL draft. In 43 career games, Strange has accounted for 91 receptions for 986 yards and 6 touchdowns. Strange has become a fixture in the Jaguars’ offense with 22 starts over the past two seasons, including 12 starts in the 2025 season.

Strange played for Penn State from 2019 through 2022. In his time in a Penn State uniform, Strange was usually the secondary tight end, but he finished his career with 70 receptions for 755 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite relatively lacking college stats, Strange proved to be a valuable draft prospect going into the 2023 NFL draft.
