CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Another former Illini basketball player in what seems to be a yearly tradition at this point is back in Champaign, working out in the team’s facilities.

The latest in this long line of alumni returning to train at the Ubben Basketball Complex, and perhaps get a lift in with Coach Fletch, is none other than Illinois great Malcolm Hill.

Illinois assistant coach Cam Crocker and Hill both took to their Instagram accounts to upload a picture of the former Illini alongside current forward David Mirkovic.

Hill had a four-year career with Illinois and became the second player in program history to log over 1,800 points and 600 rebounds.

During both his junior and senior seasons, he earned second-team All-Big Ten Honors and was the Illini’s leading scorer.

Since playing his last season of college basketball in 2017, Hill has been playing professional basketball overseas, in the NBA’s G-League and has even had multiple stints with different NBA teams.

Last season, he played for the Delaware Blue Coats of the G-League and averaged 18.1 points per game.
