Former FSU softball standout commits to Big 12 contender
Former Florida State infielder Jaysoni Beachum has found her next destination. After entering the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month, Beachum announced her commitment to the Texas Tech Lady Raiders, joining one of college softball’s fastest-rising programs.
The Lady Raiders have been one of the most active teams in the portal this offseason following their run to the 2026 Women’s College World Series finals and have added another marquee piece in the former Seminoles standout.
Beachum departs Tallahassee after three standout seasons with Florida State, where she established herself as one of the premier hitters in the ACC. A former NFCA National Freshman of the Year, ACC Freshman of the Year, and Softball America Freshman of the Year in 2024, Beachum developed into one of the cornerstones of the Seminoles’ lineup throughout her career.
During the 2026 season, Beachum batted .406 with 10 home runs and 69 RBIs while earning Second-Team All-America honors. Across three seasons at Florida State, she compiled a .375 batting average with 37 home runs, 202 hits, 180 RBIs, and 158 runs scored, cementing her place among the program’s most accomplished offensive players in recent years.
Beachum was one of the highest-rated players available in the transfer portal, with On3 assigning her a five-star transfer grade and ranking her as the No. 3 player in the portal. Her commitment gives Texas Tech another impact bat as the Red Raiders continue to reload for the 2027 season.
For Florida State, Beachum’s departure marks another significant offseason roster change as head coach Lonni Alameda works to reshape the Seminoles following the 2026 campaign. The program has already been active in both the transfer portal and the high school recruiting ranks as it looks to replace the production lost from one of the nation’s top offensive infielders.
