Manchester City have confirmed a new four-year contract for Phil Foden.

The playmaker, who has been at City since the age of nine, has committed his future to the club until the end of the 2029-30 season, with an option to extend the contract by a further year.

Foden, who was named the Premier League Player of the Season in 2023-24, missed out on England’s World Cup squad this summer after struggling to find consistency last term.

The 26-year-old played 50 times in all competitions in 2025-26, making 33 starts. He registered 17 goal involvements, providing seven assists and scoring 10 times, while creating 76 chances.

In May, Foden became the sixth player to record at least 100 Premier League goal involvements for City.

“Committing my future to City means everything to me,” said Foden, who is one of only three Premier League players to have scored 10+ goals in each of the past six seasons, along with Mohamed Salah and Ollie Watkins.

“Playing for this club is all I’ve ever wanted to do and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt.

“It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more.”

Foden has made 369 appearances for City since he was handed his first-team debut by Pep Guardiola in 2017.

He has scored 110 goals and provided 65 assists.

And Foden is relishing the chance to work under new boss Enzo Maresca, who was previously at City as one of Guardiola’s coaches.

“I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the treble season [2022-23] – someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting,” Foden added.

“Personally, I know I’ve improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great club.”

City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, said: “Everyone at Manchester City is incredibly proud of Phil.

“He represents everything good about our academy. He is a unique talent, and his creativity is a joy to watch.”
