Florida State gets brutally trolled on social media for stadium power outage

· · 2 min read

Week 1 of the college football season was set to wrap up Monday night as the Florida State Seminoles hosted the SMU Mustangs. However, in a bizarre turn of events, the lights went out at Doak S. Campbell Stadium.

Multiple reports indicated that the stadium was experiencing a power outage, causing a massive delay in a highly anticipated ACC matchup. The game was originally scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff, but the outage pushed it back to 9:15 p.m. Eastern Time.

It doesn’t help Florida State’s outlook that the school invested $265 million in stadium upgrades before last season. Apparently, not enough was done to prevent something like this from happening. Of course, these kinds of events are unpredictable.

One user, AllMiamiG, delivered a massive roast of Florida State. Remember that $265 million in renovations?

Well, this user thinks Florida State could use a little more help to turn the lights back on. Perhaps a “GoFundMe” campaign could help them get the stadium illuminated again.

Maybe even Florida Power could get involved and give the Seminoles more time to pay the power bill?

Another user, DocRobandino820, took things a step further. A donation pool may only paint the picture so much.

How about a logo redesign?

This post gives the Seminoles’ iconic logo a new look. Since Florida State and SMU are going old school, this feels only fitting.

If there’s one way to troll a Division I program after a bizarre event like this, a logo edit is undefeated. Now, if only someone could change the light bulb…

Oh, how sweet in-state rivalries can be. They deliver some of the most passionate matchups and memorable performances. They also produce some of the most brutal roasts between fan bases. This one did not disappoint.

The Miami Hurricanes official page delivered a brutal troll aimed at Florida State, letting the Seminoles know: our lights are always on. What a devastating jab during this dark moment of the season (pun intended).

What troll was your favorite from this social media frenzy?
