Florida softball reportedly grabs transfer of LSU All-American Tori Edwards

One of the top players in the transfer portal is reportedly bound for Florida softball.

The Gators scored the transfer of LSU star Tori Edwards, On3 reported Thursday. A redshirt junior, Edwards entered the portal on June 2.

She’s labeled on LSU’s roster as a “utility player,” but she primarily plays first base.

A native of Flower Mound, Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, Edwards burst onto the scene in 2025 in her first full season.

She won SEC Freshman of the Year. She set a Tiger program record with an .802 slugging percentage and tied with 18 home runs. She added 73 RBIs, 52 runs and a .495 on-base percentage with a .383 batting average. D1 Softball and Softball America named her a First Team All-American, while the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) placed her on the Second Team.

Edwards suffered the sophomore slump in 2026. Her average dipped to .284, and she limped to 12 home runs and 45 RBIs with a .568 slugging percentage. She still registered a .451 on-base percentage, though.

The junior becomes Florida‘s second transfer acquisition after former Duke catcher Kairi Rodriguez on June 14. Edwards will provide infield depth after the loss of Jocelyn Erickson, Kenleigh Cahalan and Kendall Grover.

However, playing first base seems unlikely as the Gators already have Madison Walker and Ava Brown at the position.
