Square Enix will release Memories of Life, a booster set crafted to celebrate the 30th Opus release and the 10th anniversary of the current card game series, on November 13. The set introduces new deck-building options while bringing back familiar characters in special card designs.

Final Fantasy Memories of Life Brings 285 Card Versions

According to the announcement, the Final Fantasy Memories of Life set contains 118 standard card types and 167 premium card types, giving collectors plenty to look for when opening packs. The premium selection includes 130 premium versions of standard cards, 35 full-art premium cards, one Noir card, and one Special card.

Each booster pack contains 12 cards, including one guaranteed premium card, while a box contains 18 packs. The Japanese product listing also confirms that the pack illustrations will come in three designs, although buyers cannot choose which design they receive.

Shantotto Gets The Special Card Treatment In Memories of Life

One of the highlights of Memories of Life is a new Shantotto card from Final Fantasy XI. The card, numbered 30-080L, features new artwork and will also be available as a Special Card with a gold-foil signature from artist Fumio Minagawa.

In the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game, this Lightning-element version of Shantotto has 9,000 power and abilities that reward players for building Lightning-focused decks. Her casting cost decreases for every Lightning character a player controls. When she enters the field, she deals 1000 damage to all other Forwards, including those on her own side. She can also reveal the top card of the player’s deck when attacking and add it to their hand if it’s a Lightning card.

These abilities make Shantotto a potentially powerful option for Lightning decks, but players will need to time her arrival carefully to avoid damaging their own characters.

Sephiroth, Tifa, and Cyan Return In Final Fantasy Memories Of Life

Memories of Life will also include three Legacy cards: Tifa (20-077L), Cyan (21-004L), and Vegnagaen (25-105L). These are reprints of previously released cards presented as premium full-art versions. They remain legal for tournament play, giving the returning cards value beyond their collectible appeal.

Sephiroth (7-034L) will appear as the set’s Noir card. This monochrome-style design, introduced in the previous booster set, Blissful Eternity, uses selective color accents and a signature design to distinguish it from conventional card artwork. The collection also includes premium versions of all 12 starter-exclusive cards from the Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Starter Set, released on October 9. Five of those cards feature newly illustrated artwork and will also receive full-art premium versions.

If you’re wondering who’s responsible for all the newly illustrated art in the Memories of Life set, there are plenty of names to highlight here: Rubi Asami, Mihoko Ishii, Ryoma Ito, Yukihiro Kajimoto, Gen Kobayashi, Yasushi Hasegawa, Fumio Minagawa, Kaede Yamaguchi, Miki Yamashita, and Rina Yoshiura. Of course, you might recognize their work across several Final Fantasy titles, including Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy Brave Exvius.

With its anniversary timing, returning cards, and new artwork, the Memories of Life booster set offers both established players and collectors a reason to revisit the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game. But if you’re more of a video game person, don’t forget to check out Final Fantasy Resonance, the latest addition to the franchise.

Final Fantasy is Square Enix’s flagship fantasy RPG franchise and one of gaming’s defining anthology series. Created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the property spans standalone mainline games, direct sequels, spin-offs, films, anime, and live-action adaptations, with each major entry introducing a new world, new heroes, and a new conflict while preserving recurring franchise DNA. Across decades, Final Fantasy has built its identity around ambitious storytelling, technological leaps, and a willingness to reinvent itself without losing its core sense of wonder.
