The move, according to the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, is aimed at addressing security threats posed by armed robbery, kidnapping, violent attacks and other activities of criminal elements in the nation’s capital.

The CP noted that the unit was strategically structured into five operational sectors across the territory to ensure broader “coverage, improved intelligence gathering, faster response capability, and more effective deployment of resources”.

The FCT police boss emphasized that officers selected into the unit were “carefully screened and rigorously trained”, stressing that professionalism, discipline, accountability, and respect for human rights must remain the guiding principles of their operations.
