FCT: Allow communities enjoy dividends of democracy – Wike warns Abuja land grabbers

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, issued a stern warning to land grabbers across the capital city to allow communities to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

He spoke at the commissioning of the newly constructed Airport Road (Bill Clinton Drive) to the Tunga Madaki Community as part of projects to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third year in office.

Wike said: “When these people come to you to do things and that for them, ask them, where were they when you had no road to the airport?

“Let me warn the land grabbers who are here, allow the communities to enjoy the dividends of democracy because you too deserve it.”

The Minister commended the leadership of the community for the level at which they interfaced with his administration during the conceptualisation stage of the project.

He disclosed that they make reasonable demands to the government like employment and road construction wh,ich were all met.

“For you, we would not have known the community called Tunda Madaki, they requested jobs, and we employed them. They requested for roads and your Excellency, the day we came to flag off this road sometimes last year; I never believed that we had this level of suffering of our people not having access to the city.

“Look at the international airport, this is their own community but they can’t come but today, Tinubu’s government has said Renewed Hope, what’s the essence of Renewed Hope, this community has lost hope and they don’t believe in government, but the emergence of his administration has renewed hope for them,” he added.
