Father of Ohio State five-star recruit provides update on son

The No. 1 recruit in the nation is locked in with Ryan Day and the Ohio StateBuckeyes… at least for now. DJ Jacobscommitted to OSU in late December of 2025. It was somewhat of a shocking move, as many experts had him pegged to Miami (FL) or his home-state Georgia Bulldogs. Since his commitment, other programs have been trying to sway the five-star edge rusher to reconsider. So far, those attempts have been unsuccessful.

As the college football season is well underway, players all over the country make their way to college campuses for official visits, and Jacobs has been no different despite his commitment to Ohio State. The Roswell, Georgia native made his way to Columbus for the Buckeye opener against Ball State. But he has also taken an official visit to Georgia and will be visiting Tennessee this weekend for the matchup against Texas. That’s enough to have Buckeye fans worried about a potential flip.

Not so fast. DJ’s younger brother, Dawson Jacobs, is also a highly touted recruit in the class of 2028. The uncommitted younger brother has been on all the official visits as well, so maybe it’s just a case of big brother aiding in a family journey. To ease anxiety even more in the situation, DJ’s father came out and said: “DJ is straight forward telling those people he’s locked in with Ohio State.”

Those should be words of comfort for Ohio State fans, but we all know nothing is official until pen meets paper on signing day. There’s still a long way to go before things are official, but so far, Jacobs hasn’t wavered in his commitment to the Scarlet and Gray. Judging by the way the Volunteers went all in on running back David Gabriel Georges, Tennessee can never be counted out, but the Jacobs camp is saying all the right things. Hopefully it will stay that way.
