Farmer loses left hand after clash with herdsman in Adamawa
A farmer identified as Hammasumo Ali has lost his left hand following a clash with a herdsman in the Nyashika area of Gumti Ward, Toungo Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary of Information of Toungo Local Government Area, Daniel Pogu Toungo.
According to the statement, the incident occurred when Ali attempted to prevent a herdsman from allowing his cattle to enter his farm to graze.
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a confrontation, during which the herdsman allegedly attacked the farmer with a machete.
The attack left Ali with severe injuries, resulting in the loss of his left hand. He is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital, according to the statement.
Following the incident, the Chairman of Toungo Local Government Area, Hajiya Hauwa Guruja, visited the injured farmer at the hospital and expressed sympathy over his condition.
Guruja also appealed to residents to maintain peace, respect one another’s rights and resolve disputes through dialogue to prevent further violence in the community.
