Fantasy Baseball Trade Tips: Now is the time to deal Pete Crow-Armstrong, buy-low on Bobby Witt Jr.

The month of June will wrap up on Tuesday, and there are many players who produced surprising results since May departed 30 days ago. Wise fantasy baseball managers will look at the advanced stats behind some June surges and slip-ups, and use that data to make smart trades. Here are some players who should be involved in plenty of deals right now.

Sell High

Pete Crow-Armstrong, OF, Cubs: Crow-Armstrong has been the No. 1 overall fantasy asset over the past 30 days, as his June stats (.386 BA, 10 HR, 19 RBI, 19 R, 8 SB) show five-category dominance. Unfortunately, the surge was driven by incredible batted-ball luck (.456 BABIP, 33.3% HR/FB rate) rather than skill improvements. PCA’s June strikeout and walk rates are similar to his season-long and career norms, as are his batted-ball tendencies. This is a great time to trade the inconsistent outfielder (.683 OPS in April, .762 OPS in May) for a king’s ransom.

Jung Hoo Lee, OF, Giants: Lee ranks fifth in the Majors in June batting average (.355) and has discovered more category juice than usual by collecting two homers, 17 runs and five steals. This would be a good time to get anything of value for the 27-year-old, as he remains a career .281 hitter who rarely contributes in other areas. In fact, Lee entered June batting .304 with nary a steal on his stat line. The steals are likely to dry up when his .365 June BABIP regresses, which will push Lee back to the waiver wire in many leagues.

Ernie Clement, 1B/2B/3B/SS, Blue Jays: Clement recently gained notoriety by getting the most votes of any American League player for the 2026 All-Star Game. Managers who can use the recent buzz connected to his name and his four-position eligibility to trade him for anything of modest value should make the most. Clement shouldn’t be rostered in 12-team leagues, as he offers little contribution outside of a high batting average. And his expected stats suggest that, during June (.227 xBA), he hasn’t even deserved to help in one category.

Christian Walker, 1B, Astros: Walker is a mess at the dish right now, as his strikeout rate has spiked from 17.6% in March/April and 21.6% in May to 26.9% in June. He is hitting .210 with three homers this month, and poor batted-ball luck hasn’t contributed greatly to his woes. Walker has had inconsistent stretches in recent years, such as the first half of 2025, when he posted a .660 OPS. Given the tremendous depth at first base, managers can trade Walker for a helpful player at a different position before replacing Walker via the waiver wire.

Miguel Vargas, 1B/3B, White Sox: The Vargas breakout tour continues. Possibly this season’s best waiver wire gem has played well in June (6 HR, 18 RBI, .297 BA) with expected stats that are much better than his actual marks (.344 xBA, .640 xSLG). He continues to make strides with his strikeout rate and has mastered the skill of providing power by logging many pulled fly balls. This is a safe skill set that could be undervalued on the trade market due to the recency in which it has emerged.

Buy Low

Bobby Witt Jr., SS, Royals: Although Witt has hit .293 with 11 steals in June, he has been underwhelming in the other three standard categories (1 HR, 14 R, 7 RBI). The low volume of counting stats can be traced to bad luck, as his expected stats, including a .370 xwOBA and .433 xSLG, have been better than his actual June marks. And the Royals offense has trended up overall, ranking eighth in runs scored during June. The superstar speedster could join his surging teammates this summer and slide to the very top of the fantasy baseball podium. Managers should happily pay up to acquire him.

Trea Turner, SS, Nationals: An underwhelming season continues for Turner, who has hit .262 with a .649 OPS in June. The star table-setter has collected just one homer and five steals during June, and has been the No. 163 overall asset via the Yahoo Player Rater over the past 30 days. Turner’s strikeout rate is up this year, and his expected stats are down. Acquiring him now would be a true buy-low acquisition. I would be looking for a significant discount in hopes that someone with a decade of stellar seasons is simply too talented to fall apart at 33, which is the age Turner turns on June 30.

Casey Schmitt, 1B/2B/3B/OF, Giants: Schmitt is enjoying a breakout season, and has clearly been the Giants best hitter. However, his lack of name value will likely continue to make him underrated on the trade market. The versatile fielder has earned eye-popping expected stats in June, including a .337 xBA and .502 xSLG. Meanwhile, his actual June stats have been unimpressive (.691 OPS). Given the value of his position flexibility when setting summer lineups, Schmitt is worth a significant trade return.
