Fans quickly noticed a surprising issue with the Bills' new stadium

The Bills officially opened the brand new $2.1 billion Highmark Stadium in Saturday’s “Blue and Red Practice” after playing at the old Highmark Stadium since 1973. And with these new state-of-the-art stadiums, expectations are generally sky high.

So, fans on Saturday were surprised to encounter the kinds of issues you’d find in an old stadium.

As people took their seats at the stadium, photos hit social media showing a surprising number of obstructed-view seats. In some areas, overhangs and sharp angles blocked large portions of the field. The plexiglass barrier and steps into the aisle also blocked views of the field.

The stadium itself looks great, but these mistakes are disappointing to see. Like, how does this happen in 2026?

Typically, the viewing experience for every seat is taken into account when new stadiums are being designed. SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, for example, doesn’t have any marked obstructed-view seating for Rams and Chargers games.

For the fans who were unfortunate enough to end up in an obstructed-view seat, it had to be such a letdown to see how prevalent they are at Highmark Stadium.
