Fallout 4: The Unmarked Vault Is An Officially Backed Expansion
Bethesda might finally be actively working on the next game in the Fallout series, but we’re still years away from actually being able to play it. Though the remakes of Fallout 3 and New Vegas will undoubtedly be along sooner, there’s still plenty of time to fill for fans of the franchise who are looking for something to play.
That leaves Fallout 4 as likely the best home for many right now, and the game is continuing to see new releases attached to it over a decade on from its release. Many of those come via Bethesda’s proprietary Creations Club, and there’s one in particular that not only brings a major dungeon for players to conquer, but also gives them a new settlement at the end of it.

Over on the official Creations Club website, you should be able to find the download page for The Unmarked Vault. It essentially functions as a quest mod where you need to find out the fate of the former residents of an otherwise unrecorded vault. It’s a compelling enough premise, and the perfect place to conquer the many horrors of the post-apocalypse.
The developer shared a little description of the mod, though most of its secrets will be for you to discover when playing:
“Explore a forgotten Vault hidden deep beneath the town of Lynnfield, Massachusetts. Look into the past and uncover the fate of its former residents, then unlock a large Vault interior settlement with unique features upon completing the quest.”
“Explore a forgotten Vault hidden deep beneath the town of Lynnfield, Massachusetts. Look into the past and uncover the fate of its former residents, then unlock a large Vault interior settlement with unique features upon completing the quest.”
The full list of included features is as follows:
- A lore-friendly quest that uncovers the history of a mysterious, unmarked Vault
- An expansive dungeon that transforms into a fully functional interior Vault settlement upon completing the quest
- Achievement and trophy friendly
- A vault layout inspired by older Fallout games and the Fallout TV show!
- Functional reactor with a pre-installed power grid that supplies every room in the Vault
- Scrap almost everything! Corpses, skeletons, grime decals, and environmental effects such as dust, mist, and sparks can all be cleaned up by scrapping nearby debris
- Direct fast travel to and from the Vault once the settlement has been unlocked
Though difficulty settings will obviously come into play somewhat, the experience above absolutely isn’t intended for players who have just set out into the wastes with little more than a pipe pistol. Generally, you’ll want to make sure you’re at least Level 25 before descending into the depths of the vault.
The only other caveat is that mods on the Creations Club website largely aren’t free, and The Unmarked Vault is no exception. You’ll need to part with 300 Credits to download and play it for yourself, which equates to around $3 depending on how many you buy.

Outside of that, Fallout fans also have the third season of the excellent Prime Video adaptation to look forward to. That debuts in the back half of next year, and it could even give us a look at potential settings for the next game, given how closely they are set to tie together.
