Falcons on track for top-5 draft pick after Week 1 loss

· · 1 min read

The Atlanta Falcons had to get by without their first-round pick in last year’s draft, but they won’t have to worry about that in 2027 (barring another blockbuster trade). The Falcons lost their season opener to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-13, over the weekend and currently sit at 0-1 going into Week 2.

With Cooper Rush as their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, the Falcons might be in a position to draft a new franchise QB in 2027. After one week, Atlanta is currently slated for the No. 5 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

According to Tankathon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hold the No. 1 pick slot, followed by the New York Jets (via the Green Bay Packers), the Carolina Panthers and the Houston Texans.
