Fabrizio Romano guarantees Liverpool want €130m star, he's absolutely certain

Fabrizio Romano is unbelievably adamant that Liverpool want a €130m star. He’s beyond certain.

Liverpool’s transfer business has been a little slow this summer. They have completed a signing, of course, with Victor Munoz arriving from Osasuna but all things considered, it’s not really enough.

Liverpool needed a winger badly coming out of last season – one where their production in wide areas was poor and they seriously lacked pace. They’d sold Luis Diaz in 2025 and just didn’t replace him, paying the price with a lack of direct running all season long.

Then Mohamed Salah left the club, meaning just Munoz was never going to be enough. Another winger is absolutely vital and while Yan Diomande was the initial target, his decision to hold out for Paris Saint-Germain changes things.

And probably means Liverpool end up dealing with PSG directly. Not for Diomande, of course, but for Bradley Barcola.

Anfield Watch exclusively reported back in April that Barcola was viewed as a ‘market opportunity’. He still very much is, and Fabrizio Romano couldn’t really have made that any clearer in a YouTube video on Thursday.

“Let me repeat,” he said. “Today, yesterday, last month, two months ago, three months ago – Barcola is the top, top top target of Liverpool. Liverpool love Barcola.

“I know many of you doubt my information because maybe the information is not everywhere. So many of you say ‘it’s impossible, it’s not going to happen’.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be possible financially but what I can tell you for sure is that Liverpool remain super keen on Bradley Barcola.”

It’s rare to see Romano this adamant that something is true. Especially when there aren’t that many signs elsewhere that it’s possible or happening.

But we’ve believed since at least April that Liverpool were keen. Maybe Barcola wasn’t the ultimate dream this summer but he was always on the list and always someone they were tracking in case he became available.

Because that’s the true sticking point here and the reason things haven’t progressed at any perceivable rate. PSG aren’t sure they want to sell and it’ll take an awful lot of money to get anything done.

Perhaps that changes and Diomande may play a key role in that.
