Ex-IGP Adamu emerges SDP governorship candidate in Nasarawa
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has chosen former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Nasarawa State after a direct primary held on Saturday.
Adamu emerged through an affirmation voice vote monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following the withdrawal of the party’s former candidate, Musa Adamu Angba.
Speaking after his emergence, the retired police chief promised to focus on roads, healthcare and other basic services, especially in rural communities, if elected governor.
The SDP candidate said his campaign would focus on practical issues affecting each ward and local government area.
“During the campaign, we will be specific about what we intend to do in every local government and every community,” he said.
