Ex-guber candidate first to declare interest as APC sells Nomination Form

The Cross River State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has commenced the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for aspirants seeking to contest the forthcoming elections on the party’s platform.

The exercise, which began at the party’s state secretariat in Calabar weekend, has already attracted the interest of the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Dr Effiong Nyong, who became the first aspirant to formally signal his intention to contest.

Speaking to journalists, Nyong said he had fulfilled all the requirements for participation, stressing that only qualified, credible and marketable aspirants should emerge as candidates of the party ahead of the next general elections.

He maintained that the ADC was positioning itself to provide an alternative platform for governance in Cross River State, describing the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state as disappointing.

According to him, the ADC was determined to correct what he described as the failures of the present administration and restore purposeful leadership in the state.

The governorship hopeful also declared that the party was not prepared to compromise its ambitions through political negotiations or alliances that could undermine its objectives.

Nyong said the ADC remained committed to providing accountable leadership and driving meaningful development across Cross River State.

Speaking on the exercise, the party’s State Secretary, Dr MacFarlane Ejah, said the sale of forms covers all elective positions, including seats in the National Assembly and the Cross River State House of Assembly.

Ejah described the exercise as a major step in the party’s preparations for the elections, adding that the ADC was focused on presenting credible, people-oriented candidates.

He assured party members that the process would be transparent and open to all qualified aspirants.

“The ADC stands for a new era of politics built on integrity, competence and service to the people. 

“We encourage capable and committed sons and daughters of Cross River State to take advantage of this opportunity to offer themselves for leadership,” he said.
