Everton strengthen midfield with Christian Nørgaard
Everton have strengthened their midfield by completing the signing of Christian Norgaard from Arsenal on a two-year contract.
The 32-year-old Denmark international moves to Goodison Park after a single season in north London, where opportunities proved limited despite Arsenal’s Premier League title success. Norgaard featured 20 times across all competitions for the Gunners but made only seven league starts as Mikel Arteta‘s side ended their 22-year wait for the championship.
The experienced holding midfielder arrived at Arsenal from Brentford last summer in a deal worth around £15 million, following an impressive six-year spell with the Bees.
The Merseysiders have secured a player with proven Premier League quality, international pedigree and strong leadership credentials, with the Dane earning 41 caps for his country. Reports suggest the Toffees have paid around £7 million to complete the transfer.
Norgaard becomes David Moyes’ fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Merlin Röhl, Hayden Hackney and Tyrique George, as Everton continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
