ESPN predicts final score of FSU vs. Virginia in Week 5

The FSU Seminoles are gearing up for their second ACC game of the season, with the Virginia Cavaliers coming to Tallahassee. Florida State is looking to build on their 34-7 win over the Central Arkansas Bears, which got them to 2-2 on the season.

The Cavaliers (3-1) will be a difficult test for the Seminoles and are coming off a 42-3 win over the Delaware Blue Hens. All three of their wins have come at home, with their loss coming in a neutral-site game against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Ahead of FSU-Virginia, ESPN’s Bill Connelly predicted the final score using his SP+ metrics. Connelly has Virginia picking up a 30-24 victory, handing FSU its third loss against a Power Four opponent. His metrics give Virginia a 65% chance of winning and have them covering the spread after they opened as slight favorites.

FSU is the No. 53 team in the SP+ team rankings after Week 4. They have an overall rating of 57.8, with a 58.2 rating on offense and a 0.4 rating on defense. Virginia is the No. 21 team and features a 66.5 overall rating. They have a 58.4 offensive rating and a -7.9 defensive rating.

The game between FSU and Virginia starts at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Doak Campbell Stadium. The game will be on ESPN2, with Jay Alter as the play-by-play announcer, Tom Luginbill as the color commentator, and Lauren Sisler as the sideline reporter.
