EPL: ‘Worst I’ve ever seen’ – Neville slams Man United players after 1-1 draw with Fulham

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has described the Red Devils’ performance in the opening 15 minutes of the second half of Sunday’s Premier League match against Fulham as the worst he has ever seen.

Following a goalless first half at Craven Cottage, Manchester United found themselves in a disadvantageous position in the 63rd minute.

The build-up to the goal saw Matheus Cunha lose his duel with Calvin Bassey, who picked up the loose ball and drove forward before forcing goalkeeper, Senne Lammens into a save.

Lammens’ save deflected the ball towards Lisandro Martinez, who unintentionally directed it into his own net.

Following his former club’s unfortunate concession, Neville expressed his frustration while speaking to Sky Sports.

He said, “I’ve watched Man United since the age of five, and that’s the worst 15 minutes I’ve ever seen. Absolutely pathetic. I’ve never seen such a lack of effort. What must Carrick be thinking?

“I find the ambulatory behaviour profoundly troubling. Players should never engage in walking movements across a football pitch. It is highly irregular. It resembles a few minutes of the blue mannequins competing against the white mannequins, then the configuration reverses—an extraordinarily peculiar football contest.

“Neither team will achieve meaningful progress with this demonstrated lack of intensity. Simply observe them: They are walking!

“Were I Michael Carrick, I would harbour significant concerns regarding the message the players are communicating to him. Emerging from the half-time interval with this remarkable absence of urgency is deeply troubling.”
