EPL: What Colwill’s yellow card means for Chelsea’s next games

· · 1 min read

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill escaped a red card during his side’s 3-2 Premier League win over Fulham on Monday

Colwill received only a yellow card, meaning he faces no suspension and remains fully available for Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures against Brighton and Arsenal.

The 23-year-old committed an early foul on Fulham’s Oscar Bobb during the encounter at Craven Cottage.

Fans argued that it was a red-card offence for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Speaking on the development, former Premier League referee chief Keith Hackett insisted that Colwill was not fortunate to avoid a red card.

Hackett argued that the on-field decision was the correct one, insisting Chelsea had a covering defender.

“The covering defender influences my agreement,” Hackett said in response on social media.

“No red card, correct decision.”
