EPL: ‘They’ve announced themselves’ – Peter Crouch predicts winner of Arsenal vs Chelsea clash
Former England striker, Peter Crouch has predicted the outcome of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal kicked off their title defence with an impressive performance, decisively defeating newly promoted Coventry in their first match of the season.
Goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard contributed to a convincing 3-0 win against Frank Lampard’s side.
Following this, the Gunners secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Aston Villa on Monday night, with Saka netting his second goal of the season to ensure that Mikel Arteta’s squad collected all three points.
This Sunday afternoon, the focus will be on the Emirates Stadium for what is expected to be a captivating London derby between the defending champions and a revitalised Chelsea team.
Like Arsenal, Chelsea have also accumulated six points from their first two matches, with Xabi Alonso’s formidable attacking trio of Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers performing exceptionally well at this early stage of the season.
Nevertheless, the Blues have shown some defensive frailties, having conceded five goals in their opening two Premier League matches against Fulham and Brighton.
Peter Crouch told the That Peter Crouch podcast: “Great game! Two teams looking good as well. I think Chelsea will concede.
“I’m going to put the cat amongst the pigeons and I’m going to go for a 3-2 Chelsea win.
“I think they’ve announced themselves as title contenders.”
